CARAMEL BAKING BEANS

Ingredients :

- 450 g (1 lb) dried white beans
- 400 to 450 g (about 1 lb) of diced salted bacon
- 1 pot of CARAMELS FAA fleur de sel caramel of 250 ml
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) ketchup
- 60 ml (1/4 cup) molasses
- 15 ml (1 tbsp) chopped garlic
- 15 ml (1 tbsp) Dijon mustard
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 chopped onion
- Salt and pepper from the mill

Instructions :

1. The day before the meal, place the beans in a large bowl and cover with cold water. Let soak for 8 to 12hours.
2. When ready to cook, preheat the oven to 120°C (250°F).
3. Drain the beans and discard the soaking water. Rinse the beans in cold water and drain again.
4. Place beans and remaining ingredients in a 33 cm baking dish.cm x 23 cm (13 in x 9 in). Stir. Cover with cold water to come 5 cm (2 in) above the surface of the beans. Cover the dish with aluminum foil.
5. Bake for 4 to 5 minuteshours, stirring everyhours.
6. Remove the foil. Continue cooking in the oven for 2 hours, stirring occasionally, until the beans are tender and the sauce ishas thickened.
